MDP
1. One and half months’ certificate course on ‘Disaster Management’ was held where the issues of energy management particularly during cyclone and other natural calamities as well as explosion in mines and its control was discussed.

2. The two-month certificate course on Energy Management and Audit was held from March 1, 2007 to April 27, 2007 at IISWBM. Fifteen executives from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (WBSEDCL), West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd. (WBSETCL), West Bengal Power Development Corporation Ltd. (WBPDCL), Ordance Factory, Dumdum and Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) and one internal nomination from IISWBM attended the eighty-one hour interactive course designed for professionals willing to build their career in the filed of Energy Management, particularly to prepare themselves for the national and international examinations such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) Examinations of the Government of India. The valedictory programme was held on April 27, 2007 (Friday) at 5.30 PM in the Air India Room (First Floor). Shri Rathin Datta, The Sherif of Kolkata was the Chief Guest and Shri M K Ray, Director, Commercial, West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Ashoke K Dutta presided over the programme and encouraged the energy activists by outlining the huge scope and great need of the energy management profession in present scenario.

3. IEEMA-IISWBM Training Programmes were held at IISWBM jointly with Indian Electronics and Electrical Manufacturers’ Association.

4. Energy Management course is currently offered in Ispat Industries Dolvi Plant for the working executives interested in capacity building and improvement of energy efficiency of the plant.

Research
1. Guiding one student at Coventry University doing research on Ocean Energy

2. Guiding one student at BESU doing research on Energy Management.

Workshops
One of the pioneers in the CHP software development is Simtech of Austria and bensheim-engineers of Germany. (1) two students of energy management attended an workshop highlighting Co-generation as well as use of the said software and (2) two German experts visited our Institute on April 26, 2008 (Saturday) 1. Dr. Brinkmann and Mr. Bergmann gave presentations on the software and the objective of their coming to IISWBM. They wish the students get benefit from their software and in turn the software gain popularity in the industries in this region. They were impressed by the infrastructure and facility available at the institute. A brainstorming session was conducted at the end of the session. 2. A free academic version of the Simtech software is being installed at IISWBM. It is expected that within two-three months students will be able to make maximum use of the same and IISWBM may be able to contribute by constructing one new module for the software library.

Training
The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has offered at IISWBM three days training during 27-29 August 2007 at IISWBM on their ENERGIZE package to the faculty members and students of Energy Management.
His Excellency Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi, Governor of West Bengal, visited the institute on 4th of May 2007
