The first India Chapter of Association of Energy Engineers
was inaugurated by H.E. George N. Sibley, the American Consul
General, the Unites States Consulate General in Kolkata on Feb
21, 2003, at IISWBM.
It is one among the 74 Chapters in the world with
over 9000 members.
India, a vast country with a variety of resources, has a developing
economy and a population, which is steadily increasing. As a
result, the demand for energy has risen considerably whereas
the supply side is not sufficiently geared enough to meet this
demand. Hence there is a task cut out for professionals in the
Energy Sector to strive to ensure availability of energy at
competitive price, cost effective energy industries, energy
security for sustainability and exploitation of renewable energy
to the maximum possible extent. Exposure to new technologies
and access to sharing industry-specific information will help
in taking on these challenges.
In this regard, AEE India Chapter at IISWBM under the able
leadership of President Prof. Ashoke K. Dutta is providing a
platform for energy information and facility dissemination at
an International level. This is a forum where academia -industry
interaction takes place to create awareness, relevant issues
are analyzed and debated, up to date technical literature (through
complimentary subscriptions) are shared and students are encouraged
to take up research activities. It also recognizes outstanding
professional achievements through awards and industrial programs.
